Early Runs Enough for Edinburg

HARLINGEN, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners scored seven runs in the first two innings to defeat the Rio Grande Valley White Wings by a score of 9-2 on Wednesday night at Harlingen Field.

The Roadrunners (8-11) got on the board first when Tomochika Tsuboi reached base on a walk and then Agustin Septimo hit his second homerun of the season, which made it a 2-0 game.

Edinburg would score five times in the second inning Septimo, Bobby Rinard, and Chris Christopolous each had RBI singles which incremented the lead to 7-0.

The White Wings (10-9) scored a pair of runs in the third inning when Troy Zawadzki and Albert Carpen each had RBI singles to trim the deficit at 7-2.

The Roadrunners would score again in the sixth inning when Tsuboi reached on his second walk of the game and would steal second in inning. Fernando de los Santos would drive in Tsuboi to make it an 8-2.

Edinburg would cap off the scoring in the seventh inning when Trevor Whyte would reach on a fielder's choice that drove in Christopolous for the final run.

Curtis Camilli (2-1) earned the win for Edinburg going five innings and gave up only two earned runs.

Danny Gidora (0-1) took the loss for Rio Grande Valley going six innings, giving up five earned runs.

The Roadrunners and White Wings will play game the finale of the four game series at Harlingen Field on Thursday night with the first pitch at 7:05 pm.

The next home game for the Roadrunners will be on Friday, June 14 as they will host the RGV White Wings and it will be RGV CALA Thunder sticks Night where the first 1,000 fans thru the gates will receive a pair.
