
Thunder announce reorganization

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced that they have today filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 proceedings to assist in securing long-term stability of the club in Wichita.
The move will simply restructure the organization as they prepare for future years in the Central Hockey League (CHL). The Thunder are currently in negotiations with the Kansas Coliseum on a multi-year lease extension, as well as a new contract for head coach Derek Laxdal. The Thunder are also looking forward to the opening of a new 15,000 seat arena in downtown Wichita in 2008.
"The key point with this reorganization is that business will remain as normal in all areas of operation," said Thunder General Manager David Holt. "We remain highly focused and committed to providing a championship caliber entertainment option for our passionate and loyal fan base."
The first place Thunder, with a CHL-best reccord of 12-3-0, return to the ice tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the Tulsa Oilers. The Thunder will play in Amarillo on Friday, then return home to host the Gorillas on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. WWE Wrestler Mick Foley "AKA Mankind" will be on hand Saturday to sign autographs and take photographs with fans.
