Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Class AA affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that they have changed their 2005 schedule so they will now face the Reading Phillies (AA Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) on May 9 at 7:05 PM at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Tickets to this game will go on sale to the public in January. Reading Phillies and Trenton Thunder season-ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase seats in advance. Ticket prices and locations where they will be available will be announced when the "on-sale" dates are determined.

"The Phillies are thrilled that the Reading Phillies and the Trenton Thunder will play an Eastern League regular season game at Citizens Bank Park next year," said David Montgomery, Philadelphia Phillies President. "In designing Citizens Bank Park, we often talked about our park offering some of the intimacy and entertaining fan features that exist in minor league baseball. Reading and Trenton are two prime examples of that experience. We hope that Eastern League fans will be anxious to see their teams play in a major league facility. We know that the players will be excited."

To accommodate the game, the Reading Phillies and Thunder have shuffled their schedules. Monday, May 9th had originally been an off day for both clubs. Trenton's scheduled game at Reading on July 11th will be moved to Citizens Bank Park. July 11th will now be an off day and give both teams a three-day all-star break. Reading will be the home team for the game in Philadelphia and then travel to Trenton to be the visitors for their regularly scheduled three-game series May 10-12.

"We are excited about this unique opportunity for our fans and players to enjoy a game in a Major League ballpark," said Thunder General Manager Rick Brenner. "We hope this event is something that baseball fans throughout the entire region will take advantage of and it will become an annual event."

This marks the second time in team history that the Thunder will play in a Major League ballpark. In 1994, the Thunder played two games at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia while Waterfront Park in Trenton was being completed.
