Thunder Add Six Players on Try-Outs

Stockton, Calif - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers and NHL's New York Islanders, announce six players added to the training camp roster via Professional Try-out agreements with forwards Trever Hertz, Chad Hohman and Marcus Mitchell along with defenseman Nick Malysa, Kyle Quick and Robin Rakell.

Hertz, 24, recently finished his college career with the NCAA III Utica College. Hertz totaled 102 points in 104 games with the team, and was named captain during his senior season. The Jaffray, British Columbia native turned pro with the Mississippi Surge after his college career ended, playing a total of 4 regular season games and 2 playoff games and registered 2 goals and an assist.

Hohman, 25, hits the professional stage for the first time after playing the past three years for York University in the CIS where he played in 106 games tallying 35 points.

Mitchell, 24, split time last year between the Danville Dashers of the Federal Hockey League (FHL) and Bloomington Thunder of the SPHL where he played a total of 23 games picking up 4 points.

Malysa, 21, joins the training camp roster after spending the past five seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL. In five seasons, the defenseman recorded 31 points in 294 games. Malysa helped backstop the Whalers into the playoffs in four of his five years, playing a total of 42 postseason contests and picking up 7 points.

Quick, 26, has 14 games in his professional career, all in the FHL. The Los Angeles, CA native played in 14 games picking up 3 goals and an assist.

Rakell, 22, comes to North America for the first time after playing in various leagues in Sweden from 2006 to 2014. The Swedish defenseman's brother, Rickard, was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Thunder Fan Fest and Black & White game is FREE and open to the public on October 8th beginning at 6:30 p.m. Stockton Arena doors are set to open a half-hour before the game at 6:00 p.m.

Fans have an opportunity to check out the team on the ice and then meet the team during Q&A and autograph sessions after the game.
