
Aces Announce 2014-15 Training Camp Roster, Sign Goaltenders

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, the 2014 Kelly Cup champions and proud affiliate of the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League, today announced the opening roster for the team's 2014 training camp period held in Anchorage.
The Aces also announced that the team has signed free agent goaltenders Aaron Crandall and Andy Iles.
The current and active roster includes 19 players (16 skaters and three goaltenders), including six players with previous experience with the Aces. The Aces also enter the season as four-time defending Brabham Cup champions (ECHL's top regular season record). Preseason play opens with a two-game, "Paint The Rink Pink" series Oct. 7, beginning at 7:15 p.m. against the Indy Fuel at Sullivan Arena.

Crandall, 24, made his pro debut last season with the Aces, going 4-2-0 with a 2.67 goals-against-average in six games. He went 30-23-6 with a 2.83 goals-against-average and five career shutouts in 65 games with the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA) from 2010-14.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound netminder appeared in net for a career-high 31 games as a 2013-14 senior for the Bulldogs and racked up a 14-12-3 record, career best 2.76 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage. He was a member of UMD's squad that captured the national championship when he was a 2010-11 freshman, going 10-3-1 with a 2.79 goals-against-average in 16 games.
Iles, 22, who began this preseason skating in training camp with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL), was originally signed by the Florida Everblades as a free agent on Mar. 25, 2014 and broke through last season with an ECHL Goaltender of the Week award, finishing with a 4-1-0 record and 2.74 goals-against-average in five games.
He appeared in 118 career games in college with Cornell University (NCAA) and went 58-42-17 in four seasons with nine shutouts, a 2.26 goals-against-average and .917 save percentage. Iles broke Ben Scrivens' all-time program record for saves (2,962) and made 80 consecutive starts in net for the Big Red, the fifth longest streak in NCAA (Division I) history.
The 5-foot-9, 180 pound goaltender set career-bests in wins (19), goals-against-average (2.12) and shutouts (6) as a 2011-12 sophomore. He also notched a record of 10-4-0 for the United States National Under-18 Team in 2009-10 and represented the U.S. (Under-20) Team at the World Junior Championships in the following season.
Alaska will unveil its third Kelly Cup championship banner on Opening Night at 7:15 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Ontario Reign.
