Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release

BOARDMAN, Ohio. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder roster underwent some adjustments, the arenafootball2 League Office announced, Tuesday night. Mahoning Valley was involved in two separate trades, one with the Fort Wayne Fusion and the other with the Lubbock Renegades.

The Thunder acquired OL/DL Lou Vega (6'3, 280) from the Fusion in exchange for OL/DL Anton Ceaser. Ceaser led the Thunder in sacks with 6.0 at the time of his trade to the Fusion. Vega will help bolster an offensive line that ranks 24th in af2 in scoring offense.

The Thunder also acquired DB Marcus Walker (6'0, 185) from the Renegades in exchange for DL/TE Shalom Tuimalealiifano. Walker brings a wide variety of skill to the Thunder, as he can play defensive back, wide receiver and will serve as the backup quarterback to starter QB Mike Schneider.

"We felt we needed to improve the offensive line and we feel we did that with the experience Lou [Vega] brings to us," Head Coach Mike Hold said. "In Marcus Walker, we added depth at defensive back, but also filled the void left when Glen [Gauntt] went down.

Vega is currently in his sixth season in af2. He played college football at Glenville State. Walker is a rookie this season, after playing collegiately at Benedict College.

The Mahoning Valley Thunder 2007 season is underway on Cortland Banks Field at the Chevrolet Centre. In the historic inaugural game, a sellout crowd of 5,954 witnessed the first win in team history.
