Clearwater Threshers News Release

CLEARWATER, FL - Despite trailing 4-3 in the seventh, the Clearwater Threshers rallied back to knock off the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels 5-4 in front of 4,473 at BayCare Ballpark on Saturday night.

Right-hander Andrew Painter made his seventh start of the season for Clearwater, allowing only one run on two hits and striking out six, while also working out of a big bases loaded, no out jam in the first inning to keep the game scoreless.

The Threshers (21-16) opened the scoring in the first on a single by Mickey Moniak and an RBI sac-fly from Jadiel Sanchez to make it 1-0.

After the Mighty Mussels (24-13) tied the game 1-1 in the third, the Threshers responded with a solo home run by third baseman Hao Yu Lee to make it 2-1 in the bottom half. The homer to left-center was Lee's team-leading sixth long ball of the season.

Leading 3-1 in the seventh, Clearwater right-hander Alex Garbrick walked two hitters and allowed a three-run home run to Mikey Perez to give Fort Myers a 4-3 advantage.

In the home half of the seventh, the Threshers used a single by Yhoswar Garcia, a wild pitch, and two Mighty Mussels errors to tie the game 4-4.

With the score even 4-4 in the eighth, and with runners on second and third, the Threshers pushed the go-ahead run across on a sac-fly RBI from Moniak.

Moniak, in his second game on an MLB rehab assignment from the Philadelphia Phillies, finished the contest 1-for-4 with an RBI after notching two hits on Friday night.

Righty Rodolfo Sanchez entered on the mound for Clearwater in the eighth and secured the win in the ninth, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out four to preserve the 5-4 victory.

Clearwater and Forty Myers wrap up the seven-game series on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Left-hander Matt Osterberg is scheduled to start for the Threshers, opposite fellow lefty Jaylen Nowlin for the Mighty Mussels. Coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network begins at 11:50 a.m.
