Three Unearned Runs Doom Tourists in 4-3 Loss

The Augusta GreenJackets needed only one inning for their offense Friday night in Asheville. The visitors plated four runs in the second and held on late to beat the Tourists 4-3.

Asheville jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one. Brian Humphries led off the inning with a single came home on Taylor Featherston's double down the left field line. Tyler Massey, back after a short stint on the disabled list, then drove in Featherston with a single to left.

The GreenJackets responded with the four-run second inning. Jeff Arnold doubled home Brett Krill cutting the Tourists lead to one. Augusta then loaded the bases off a Tourists error and Kelby Tomlinson drew a walk to tie the game.

Jose Flores picked up an RBI fielder's choice and Shawn Payne singled in another run for the GreenJackets. Augusta batted around in the inning and three of their four runs were unearned.

The Tourists manufactured a run in the sixth. Harold Riggins led off with a double, went to third on Jordan Ribera's groundout, and scored on a Massey groundout. Augusta retired the next ten Tourists hitters to finish the game.

Cody Hall worked the ninth for his 14th save of the year while Russell Brewer tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Asheville.
