Amarillo Bulls News Release

Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Bulls stormed back with three unanswered goals in the third period to top the Topeka Pilots 3-1 at home on Friday night.

Despite a 19-shot performance in the first period, Amarillo and Topeka skated to a scoreless opening frame.

The second period produce much of the same between the two sides with Amarillo racking up 20 shots in the frame, but the acrobatic saves from the Topeka goaltender Josh Langford, kept the game scoreless at the end of 40 minutes.

In the third period, the Pilots scored the opening goal just 53 seconds as Shawn Kennedy found the back of the net. Mid-way through the period, Noah Carlin tied the game as he sliced the puck past Langford for his 11th of the season. Just under five minutes later, Gleb Murtazin rifled a wrist shot under the bar for his fifth of the season to give the Bulls the 2-1 lead. Matt Allen would seal the deal for the Bulls with an empty net goal late in the third.

Max Gutjahr earned his team leading 20th win of the season, stopping 26 of 27 shots he faced.

With the win, the Bulls are now 39-8-1-3 with 82 points and hold sole possession of the South Division lead.

The Bulls remain at home on Saturday, February 29, to take on the Topeka Pilots on Make-A-Wish night. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on Mixlr.com and Hockey TV.
