Lexington County Blowfish News Release
HIGH POINT-THOMASVILLE, N.C -- The Blowfish took aim at the HiToms tonight in hopes of snapping their 2 game losing streak but another heartbreaking loss was in the cards as High Point-Thomasville walked off on the Blowfish by the final score of 10-9.  Wasting little time in the bottom of the first inning, Wyatt Cross crushed a grand slam to right field to push the HiToms out to a 4-0 lead.  Lexington County wasn't going to roll over as Dalton Ewing smacked a two-run double to left field placing the Blowfish on the board in the top of the second. The next batter Kyle Caruthers punched a single to center cutting the early deficit down to one run trailing 4-3.  The Blowfish completely erased the four run lead on a RBI double by Charlie Madden in the third who also drove in the early go-ahead run in the top of the fifth on a run-scoring groundout to third.  Trailing 5-4 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth an error allowed the tying run to cruise in for the HiToms  However a miscue from Carson Jackson in the top of the eighth gave the Fish the lead. Jackson threw the ball away from first base on a ground ball back to the mound as the Blowfish regained the lead 6-5. Two more runs scored on a double by Danny Edgeworth. An RBI single put the Blowfish ahead 9-5 in the bottom of the eighth.  But the HiToms wouldn't go quietly.
Callahan Moltzan clubbed his first homer of the season a two-run bomb to keep move it to 9-7. Danny Sullivan brought in another on an RBI single into right making it 9-8.
The HiToms would complete their comeback on the ninth.  Cesar Trejo came up as the leadoff batter for HPT and smoked a solo homer to left center tying up the game at 9.  With one out and two runners on, David Sheaffer flared a line drive to right center bringing in David Newcomer as the winning run.
The Blowfish continue their road trip tomorrow night in Florence against the RedWolves. Coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake at 6:50 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
