
Three Sea Dogs Players Named To Team Atlantic For 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Hockey Canada's Atlantic Regional Centre of Excellence announced today that three members of the Saint John Sea Dogs - Kevin Gagné, Stephen MacAulay, and Nathan Beaulieu - have been named to Team Atlantic for the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The event, which features squads representing five regions of Canada in addition to five foreign delegations, gets underway on December 26 in Alberni Valley, BC.
Beaulieu, 15, has appeared in 16 games with Saint John this season. The 6'0", 170 lb. defenseman has tallied 1G-2A-3P thus far in his rookie QMJHL campaign. The former Saint John Vito's Midget AAA star was selected by the Sea Dogs in the fourth round (68th overall) of the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft.
MacAulay, 16, has skated in 20 games with the Sea Dogs this year. The freshman left winger currently has 1G-1A-2P on the season. Originally selected by Saint John in the third round (52nd overall) of the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft, MacAulay won a Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey Championship with his hometown Cole Harbour McCain team in 2007-08.
Gagné, 16, was Saint John's top draft pick at the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft, having been selected in the second round (32nd overall). The Edmundston, NB native has recorded 1G-1A-2P in 19GP thus far this season. With the Rothesay Netherwood Riverhawks in 2007-08, the offensive-minded defenseman tallied 30G-72A-102P in only 48 games played.
Sea Dogs Head Coach/GM Jacques Beaulieu also announced today that the team has acquired a ninth round pick at the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft from the Gatineau Olympiques in exchange for the rights to overage forward Kyle Paige.
