
Three-Run Fifth Dooms Threshers in 3-2 Loss to Mighty Mussels

FORT MYERS, FL - Despite holding a 1-0 lead until the fifth, the Clearwater Threshers had their eight-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 defeat to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels on Thursday night at Hammond Stadium.
Left-hander Matt Osterberg made his second start of the season for Clearwater, allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts in four innings of work.
The Threshers (9-9) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by shortstop Hao Yu Lee, who secured his third straight multi-hit game.
Following a leadoff triple by Noah Cardenas in the fifth, the Mighty Mussels (11-7) scratched across three runs on three hits, including a two-run home run by Kala'i Rosario to grab a 3-1 advantage. The Threshers got one run back in the seventh on an RBI double by Kendall Simmons, but were unable to push across the tying run in the final few frames.
Clearwater and Fort Myers meet again in game four of the six-game set on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. LHP Jordi Martinez is scheduled to make his 2022 debut for the visitors, while RHP David Festa is set to start for the Mighty Mussels.
