Defencemen Lassi Thomson and Kaedan Korczak along with forward Nolan Foote are looking to impress at the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Red Deer tomorrow night.
The 24th annual showcase of the CHL's top prospects eligible for the NHL Draft will be played at the ENMAX Centrium, home of the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels. The 40 competing players were chosen by NHL clubs and includes talent from across the WHL, the Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
"The Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game provides scouts and general managers the unique opportunity to evaluate talent competing in a best-on-best showcase," said Dan Marr, NHL Central Scouting Director. "All 31 NHL clubs contributed to the roster selection and have a great interest in this priority scouting event to see which players can elevate their game under the spotlight."
The players will undergo testing in front of NHL teams and their scouts today.
Thomson and Korczak were named to Team Orr earlier this month while Foote was placed on opposing Team Cherry's roster. Foote said last week he was excited to take on his teammates.
"I'm really looking forward to it," said Foote. "It's going to be fun and be a battle. I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of great players."
Korczak said that he was also looking forward to playing against his teammate.
"It's always an honour to represent your league and your team," said Korczak. "I've always looked forward to these opportunities, I'm thankful for the chance to play. It's also my first time playing against Nolan when we're older, and it's nice to have Lassi on my team."
You can watch the Sherwin-Williams Top Prospects Game on live on Sportsnet starting at 7:00 pm PT.
You can watch the trio this Friday when the Rockets host the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place. Tickets are on sale at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
