Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Ontario Hockey League announced the results of the Eastern and Western Conference Coaches Polls for the 2014-15 OHL regular season on Thursday. Kitchener Rangers defencemen Liam Maaskant and Max Iafrate and goaltender Jake Paterson are among those recognized in the Western Conference poll.

Iafrate finished first in the Hardest Shot Category, after placing second in 2013-14. The overage rearguard has recorded new career highs in goals (11), points (35) and penalty minutes (125) this season, and is riding a streak of four consecutive games with at least one point.

Maaskant ranked third in the Western Conference's Best Body Checker category, earning 13 votes. The gritty captain has also set new career benchmarks in his overage season, with 13 points, 141 penalty minutes and a plus/minutes rating of +12.

Paterson nabbed two first place spots, leading the West as the Best Shootout Goalie and finishing in a tie for Best Puck-Handling Goalie. The Detroit Red Wings prospect has collected 14 wins since joining the Rangers in a trade with the Spirit at the deadline, and has posted a 2.39 goals against average and a .928 save percentage with two shutouts.

The OHL Coaches Poll provides member club coaches with the opportunity to recognize the top three players in 20 different skill categories within their own conference.
