Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - The 2018 season wraps up for the Houston Dynamo on Sunday afternoon in Carson, California when they take on the LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center. Decision Day carries more significance for the Galaxy, who come into Sunday in a must-win situation. A win puts them into the playoffs as the sixth and final seed in the Western Conference, but anything less would leave them on the wrong side of the playoff line.
Houston finds themselves in the unusual situation of playing the role of spoiler against their long-time rivals, with the chance to send the Galaxy and their fans home in a dour mood while simultaneously ending their own year on a high note.
For Houston, there are still several team and individual marks to shoot for as well. The team is two goals shy of the club single-season scoring record of 57 goals, set a year ago, and can earn their 10th victory of the season and second away from home.

HERE ARE THREE KEY POINTS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW AS YOU PREPARE FOR TOMORROW'S GAME:
CHASING SCORING RECORDS - The Dynamo have scored 55 goals through 33 games this season, an average of 1.67 per game on the year. They are two goals shy of the club single-season scoring record of 57 set a year ago. With one game left, tomorrow could be crucial in the team's attempt to set a new productivity mark. Leading scorer Mauro Manotas has already set the club single-season record with 17 goals, which leaves him three away from potentially becoming the 22nd player in league history to bag 20 goals in a single season.
GOTTA SLOW DOWN ZLATAN - If the Dynamo want to win on Sunday, they'll need to slow down one of the most dangerous attacking threats not only in the league, but in the world. Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic ranks second in MLS with 22 goals on the year and has added 10 assists to boot, despite not joining the Galaxy until late March. While Atlanta forward Josef Martinez has earned most of the spotlight this year with a league-record 30 goals, Zlatan is neck-and-neck with him on a per-game basis, as both players average 0.96 goals per 90 minutes played.
HEAD TO HEAD AGAINST KINNEAR - Sunday's game will pit the Dynamo against one of the most familiar faces in the club's history. The Galaxy are under the direction of interim head coach Dominic Kinnear, the man who led Houston for its first nine years, helping guide the Dynamo to two MLS Cup titles and two more appearances in the final. The Dynamo are 4-2-1 against Kinnear since he left the club after the 2013 season, and a fifth win against the former boss would not only end Houston's season on a high note but would squash the Galaxy's playoff quest.
