Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS (July 18, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Corpus Christi Hooks in the series finale Saturday night, 12-1, at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Conrad Gregor's second home run in as many days, a solo-shot, jump-started the Hooks offense.
Leading 1-0 in the third inning, A.J. Reed hit a sacrifice fly that scored Brett Phillips and a wild pitch put another run on the board to make it 3-0. Reed, who leads all of Minor League Baseball in runs batted in, added five more in the contest giving him 89 this season.
Corpus Christi extended the lead in the fourth. Brett Phillips knocked a two-run single to centerfield, putting the Hooks up 5-0.
Frisco threatened with a bases loaded chance in the fourth. Luis Marte hit a RBI-single to centerfield that scored Alex Burg, but Trever Adams was thrown out at the plate to end the frame.
Jio Mier and Reed added home runs in the eighth inning to cap off a five-run frame. Frisco scored three runs in the ninth, including a rare, two-run sacrifice fly from Luis Mendez, but the Hooks held on for the 12-4 victory.
Frank Lopez (3-3) tossed five innings and picked up his third loss of the season. He allowed five runs on five hits but struck out six batters. Michael Feliz (2-2) earned his third win as he allowed one run on three hits in six innings. Aaron West notched his second save, pitching the final three innings.
The Frisco RoughRiders head on the road for a four-game set against the San Antonio Missions. Frisco sends LHP Chad Bell and San Antonio counters with RHP James Needy in Sunday's 6:05 p.m. start. The Riders return on July 23 for a seven game home stand against Corpus Christi and Midland.
