
Three-Hit Day from Roa Not Enough in Series Finale

WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things (12-9) dropped the third and final game of the series to the Traverse City Beach Bums (10-11) by a final score of 3-1 in a pitcher's duel featuring two of the top starting pitchers in the Frontier League.
Right-handed pitcher Trevor Foss (3-2) went 7.2 innings in the game, allowing three hits and two earned runs while striking out nine, including three strikeouts in the top of the first inning. For the Beach Bums, left-handed pitcher John Havird (3-0) went eight innings in the win, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four.
Second basemen Steven Patterson for Traverse City hit a solo home run to open up the scoring in the top of the first inning giving the Beach Bums a 1-0 advantage. It took the Wild Things until the fifth inning to get on the board, when designated hitter Kyle Pollock hit a solo home run to tie the game back up at one after five innings.
Traverse City took the lead once again in the top of the eighth inning to make it 2-1 after a single by right fielder Ryan Garvey. The Beach Bums added insurance in the ninth with a double by third basemen Elijah Trail scoring left fielder Alexis Rivera to make the final score 3-1 in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Right fielder Hector Roa had quite a game for the Wild Things going 3-4, raising his average on the season to .288, with two singles and a double in the loss.
The Wild Things will be off Monday before beginning a three-game, road series against the River City Rascals. Right-hander Trevor Belicek takes the hill for the Wild Things in the opener of the series Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
