Portland Thorns FC News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Following a league-wide break for international matches, Portland Thorns FC return to action, playing host to the Orlando Pride in their 2018 home opener at Providence Park on Sunday, April 15. Sunday's match kicks off at 3 p.m. (Pacific) and features a live web stream available at www.go90.com.
At Providence Park
Thorns FC have posted a record of 18-2-2 at Providence Park during the regular season since the beginning of the 2016 season. Portland is 35-12-8 all-time at Providence Park - posting the most home wins of any team in the league. Thorns FC have won seven straight home matches dating back to the conclusion of the 2016 season, outscoring opponents 15-3, while recording four clean sheets in that span.
Against the Pride
Sunday's match marks the fifth regular-season meeting between Thorns FC and the Pride. Portland is unbeaten in each of the four previous meetings (3-0-1) with Orlando, including a mark of 2-0-0 at Providence Park. In two meetings last season, Portland earned a 2-0 win at home on April 15, while playing to a scoreless draw Sept. 23 on the road.
Home openers
For a third consecutive season, Portland will play host to Orlando in the club's home opener. In their previous five seasons, Thorns FC have posted a mark of 5-0-0 in home openers, outscoring opponents 13-4 in those five matches.
Next match
Remaining at home, Thorns FC square off against the Washington Spirit on Friday, April 20, at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) with a live web stream available at www.go90.com.
