Thomas and Walker Stay Hot in Road Win

?San Jose, CA - Cody Thomas and Jared Walker both homered for the second consecutive day, as Rancho Cucamonga rallied for a 6-3 win over the San Jose Giants on Tuesday night,opening their six-game road trip with a win at Municipal Stadium.

Thomas tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer in the sixthinning, while Walker actually went deep for the fifth straight game, helpingRancho add to their lead with an eighth-inning blast and giving the Quakestheir 11th win in 13 games against San Jose.

The Quakes struggled over the first five innings against SanJose starter Logan Webb, as he allowed just three hits over fivescoreless. When the San Jose bullpentook over in the sixth, the Quakes took off.

With one out in the sixth, Thomas ripped his 13th homer ofthe year and tenth of the second half, tying the game at 1-1. With the bases loaded and only one out,Walker lifted a sac fly to right field, plating Cristian Santana to give theQuakes the lead for good at 2-1 against reliever Peter Lannoo (1-5).

Rancho stockpiled three runs in the seventh, with ConnorWong's two-run double capping the inning at 5-1.

Walker opened the eighth by smashing Rodolfo Martinez'sfirst pitch over the fence in right field, becoming the first Quake to homer infive straight games this year.

Leading 6-1 in the last of the eighth, Jason Richman tookover and immediately surrendered a run, as Gio Brusa doubled home Jalen Millerto make it 6-2. A throwing error withtwo outs allowed Brusa to score as the Giants pulled to within three.

Richman got out of the eighth though, and then used adouble-play ball to end the ninth, helping Rancho secure the win.

Quakes' reliever Nolan Long (5-0), who came on for starterBen Holmes with two outs in the third inning, allowed just one hit over 2.1innings of scoreless relief for the win.

The Quakes (60-43, 25-8) will send righty Max Gamboa (0-1)to the hill on Wednesday at 7:00pm, as he'll take on Giants' lefty DomenicMazza (3-1) in the second game of the three-game set.
