Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks snapped Lake Elsinore's seven-game winning streak Tuesday night, beating the Lake Elsinore Storm, 8-6, at The Hangar. All eight Lancaster runs came in the first three innings.
Lancaster (19-14, 52-51) scored once in the opening inning before a pair of big frames. The JetHawks scored four runs on five hits in the second inning. In the third, Wes Rogers and Luis Castro hit back-to-back home runs to put Lancaster on top, 8-1.
It marked the fourth time this season the JetHawks had hit consecutive home runs. Eight of the nine starters had at least a hit in the game, with Rogers and Colton Welker each extending hitting streaks to 10 games. The bottom four hitters in the lineup- Alan Trejo, Wes Rogers, Luis Castro and Joel Diaz- combined for nine hits, four RBIs and seven runs scored.
Antonio Santos (2-1) picked up his second win for Lancaster, and both have come against the Storm. The righty allowed three runs over seven innings and did not walk a batter. Reggie Lawson (6-4), who started for the South Division in the California League All-Star Game at The Hangar, took the loss.
Lake Elsinore (17-16, 51-52) made things interesting with three runs over the final two innings, but Reid Humphreys induced a game-ending double play in the ninth inning to earn his 22nd save. He is now two saves shy of tying the franchise record.
The JetHawks have won seven of their last ten and now have a winning record overall. Lancaster and Lake Elsinore have split 18 meetings so far this season.
With a victory Wednesday, Lancaster would win a third consecutive series. Matt Dennis (7-10) takes the hill for the JetHawks, while lefty Nick Margevicius (2-1) goes for Lake Elsinore. First pitch from The Hangar is at 6:35 pm.
