Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa. - The Quad City Steamwheelers today announced that this weekend's game against the Green Bay Blizzard will be televised on Mediacom Channel 22 in the Quad Cities and most of Iowa as well as in Western Illinois.

Veteran play-by-play man Rob Brooks will have the call of the game live from The Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisc., starting at 7 p.m. Brooks brings considerable experience to the booth as a veteran of ESPN and espn2 broadcasts of Big Ten football in addition to his other work at Mediacom. Joining him in the booth will be the President and Managing Owner of the Steamwheelers as well as the founder of Arena Football, Jim Foster. Brooks and Foster, both former Iowa Hawkeyes drew favorable reviews for their work in the television booth during Steamwheeler broadcasts a year ago and will be back at it again on Saturday.

In addition to the local Quad City market, Saturday's game will be broadcast to all of the major Eastern and Central Iowa markets including Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque/Maquoketa, Cliunton/Dewitt, and Burlington/Wapello. In addition, the Greater Western Illinois market, including Galesburg and Geneseo as well as the Illinois Quad Cities will be carrying the broadcast live. In total, more than 500,000 households will be able to catch Saturday's game live on Mediacom Channel 22 or their local cable provider.

Last season the ‘Wheelers had a pair of games broadcast on Mediacom, giving fans back in the Quad Cities a chance to see their favorite team on the road. On May 7 the ‘Wheelers traveled down I-74 to Peoria for the final time to knock off the Pirates 47-20. Just less than a month later they were back on the air, this time from the legendary Freedom Hall in Louisville. On that night the Fire pulled out a wild, last second 62-61 victory, handing the ‘Wheelers their first-ever loss in a televised game.

All-time, Quad City's record stands at 4-1 in televised contests with the previous three games all coming during the first two seasons of the league. Each of the ‘Wheelers two ArenaCup championship games were shown live on TNN (now SpikeTV) while their 65-44 win over Tulsa on July 7, 2001 was broadcast locally.

Following this Saturday's televised game, the Steamwheelers will return home to take on their divisional rival Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz on Saturday, May 28 at 7:30 at OS Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities.
