Silvertips Hockey Summer Camps: August 2 - 6
During the hot Snohomish County Summer, there is no better way for local youths to beat the heat than hitting the ice and playing hockey, which is why the Silvertips are excited to announce their sixth annual summer hockey camp schedule. The Silvertips will be conducting three different camps this summer at Comcast Arena the week of August 2-6, conducted by current players and coaches. The goal of the Silvertips Summer Hockey Camps is to enhance player development through qualified, professional instruction and innovative, challenging programs. The camps will focus on hockey fundamentals, skills, tactics and systems.
The Summer Camp (for players with less than 3 years of playing experience)
In an environment of respect and positive reinforcement, players will learn the basic and most critical skills needed to enjoy the game of hockey. Silvertip coaches and players will take time to break down fundamentals, including stopping, crossovers, shooting, stick handling and power turns. By mixing skill enhancement with games, all players will be able to have fun while learning. August 2-6, 10:00 am to 2:15 pm daily.
The Development Camp (for players with 3 to 6 years of playing experience) This camp is designed for players looking to improve their basic skills and develop good habits going forward. All skills, including skating, puck control, passing and shooting will be developed in drills and executed in fun games and controlled scrimmages. With power skating instruction that focuses on technique, agility, acceleration and skills instruction that focus on shooting, puck protection, body positioning and off-ice core strength and physical training, this camp is perfect for the developing hockey player.
August 2-6, 11:15 am to 3:45 pm daily.
The Elite Camp (for players with 6 or more years of playing experience)
Players will be grouped according to age and ability. It is our main objective in the Advanced Programs to put together a group of players who have reached a high level of the basic skills for their age, and are thus prepared to undertake a more rigorous program with regard to skating, passing and shooting, puck control, checking and team play. In addition to 2.5 hours of daily on-ice instruction, students participate in an extensive off-ice program which focuses on core strength training and plyometerics specifically designed for the needs of young hockey players. August 2-6, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily.
Each of the camps will feature professional instruction from current Silvertip Assistant Coach Chris Hartsburg as well as from current and former WHL players, while Silvertips athletic trainer Chris Walker will be on hand to work with campers on strength and conditioning. Our coaches and counselors will emphasize the importance of the characteristics the Silvertips expect from their WHL stars, and strong work ethics, teamwork and sportsmanship will be encouraged. The Silvertips Summer Hockey Camp mandate is to provide all of this for your son or your daughter in an enthusiastic and fun atmosphere. Enrollment is just $275.00 for skaters and $100.00 for goaltenders - space is limited so make sure you enroll now before it is too late!
