Maywood, CA - The Maywood Buzz will host its 3rd Annual "Buzz MLK Hoop Dream Classic" on Monday, January 19th, 2009 at the Maywood Activity Center located at 4801 East 58th Street, Maywood, California 90270.
We are excited to be hosting our event one more year. Last year was a great success having the Los Angeles Clippers Wheelchair team, the Buzz Celebrity Basketball Game and then topped it all off with the Maywood Buzz taking on the Orange County Gladiators. This season it will be a little different. The schedules of events are as followed;
10:00am - 1:00pm Buzz FREE Youth Basketball Clinic
Kids in grades Kindergarten - 8th Grade
2:00pm Pro Basketball Game #1
Inland Empire 5 Lynx vs. Los Angeles Slam
4:30pm Pro Basketball Game #2
Inland Empire Rage vs. Maywood Buzz
The Maywood Buzz who is off to a great start with an astounding record of 9 wins and 1 lost. "This is the best start of my five year coaching career. The players that we have are great, not saying the ones in the past was bad, but we have some young , fresh legs that many played at top colleges in the past" stated Buzz GM Burrel Lee III. "With young players like Wesley Stokes (San Diego State), Keion Kindred (Missouri Western), Joey Saavedra (Los Angeles Harbor College), Donald Jones (Jarvis Christian) and Kenny Wright (Long Beach City College) they have set that tone for us heading into the final 2 months of the season. But it couldn't have been done without the veteran leadership of Isaac Burton (Arizona State), Jamar Cramer (Los Angeles Trade Tech College), former NBA Superstar and Los Angeles Laker Cedric Ceballos and the rest of the Buzz team" added Lee.
All kids that attend the Buzz Youth Basketball Clinic will receive a free ticket to both games later in the afternoon. Current Buzz players and players from the past will be on hand to help run the clinic. There will also be special guest stopping in to say hi and maybe run a drill or two.
Tickets for the two pro basketball games are $10.00 (General Admission) $5 (Students with School ID, Military and Seniors).
