Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (May 20, 2006) - The Kansas City Royals have placed Burlington Bees C Kiel Thibault on the disabled list. Thibault was spiked in the right leg while sliding into second base to break up a double play last night in the eighth inning. Thibault had to leave the game and received seven stitches to close up the gash. He is expected to be out about two weeks while the leg heals.
C Brady Everett has been assigned to the Bees active roster from the Royals extended spring training camp in Surprise, AZ. Everett was slated to open the season with High Desert in the California League, but broke his hand the last week of spring training and has recently returned to action. The Royals drafted Everett in the 15th Round of last year's draft out of Washington State University where he was named 1st-Team All Pac-10, finished second in the conference with 15 home runs, and third with 65 RBI. He made his pro debut with Idaho Falls in the Pioneer League last year and hit .361 with 5 homers and 21 RBI in 29 games before moving up to High Desert for the final six games of the season and hit .278 with 2 RBI.
Everett will be in uniform and available for action tonight as the Bees open a four-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium looking to extend their six-game winning streak. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 and the game will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:15.
