Knoxville Ice Bears News Release
Your Knoxville Ice Bears are back on home Ice Friday and Saturday Nights. With a 5 game winning streak, and after a loss by Jacksonville on Thursday night, the IceBears magic number to win the regular season championship dwindled down to just 4 games. Jacksonville lost in overtime to Columbus 4-3, with that win Columbus is now tied with Jacksonville for 2nd place with 54 points. Fayetteville and Macon are right behind with 52 points each. That puts the important 2nd place in the tightest race possible.
How important is that 2nd place you ask? First and second place get a bye in the first round which is a single game elimination round. First and second also get home ice advantage for the second round expected to start during March 24-26th time period depending on ice availability. The Staff at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum are prepared for the playoffs, and ice availability has been planned, with only a mid-March WWE event. And a March 30th race night in which your Ice Bears will again take part in with corporate sponsor Food City.
Promotions: Friday is Martial Arts night with a special show during the first intermission. Saturday Night is Country Western Night sponsored by Cotton Eyed Joe. Wear your Cowboy Boots and hat for a $2 discount per ticket. Line dance lessons will be taught by Bubba a dance instructor / DJ from Cotton Eyed Joe in the exhibit hall during pre-game and intermissions.
