June 12, 2022 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Victoria Generals News Release
The Generals are coming off of a two-game series loss to the Acadiana Cane Cutters and were looking to get a win at Riverside tonight. The Brazos Valley Bombers made their way down and took on the Generals and were looking to head back the the Valley with a big win over the Generals.
The Generals started off the game strong with only five pitches being thrown by Michael Barta in the first inning and his defense making plays to make their presence known early in the ball game. The Bombers took control shortly after in the top of the second with a home run, but Generals held them shortly after only allowing two runs to be scored by the top of the fourth making the score 2-0 as the Bombers held onto the lead.
The ball game seemed to be at a stalemate until the Generals bats seemed to wake up in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Generals shortstop Sean Curtis hit an RBI to give the Generals their first run of the ball game. Both teams then went scoreless in both the sixth and seventh innings until the Bombers took control of the ball game in the top of the eighth inning. The Bombers hit the sticks and managed to bring in five runs extending their lead 7-1.
With the Generals being down, they knew that the bottom of the eighth and ninth were going to be crucial in coming back into this ball game and stealing a win from the Bombers. Curtis got the Generals started by hitting a single and was brought home by an RBI from Samuel Tormos. Shortly after, Austin Ochoa, the third baseman for the Generals, hit an RBI of his own and brought in Tormos to decrease the bombers lead. Despite the momentum the Generals were building, they came up short to the Bombers with the final score being 7-3.
The Generals will head on the road for the next two games first starting in Brazos Valley to try and get redemption on the Bombers. Following that game, the Generals will make their way down into River Monster territory in Seguin on Wednesday. The Generals will be back home on Thursday as the River Monsters swim their way into Riverside Stadium.
