Green Bay Rockers News Release
The 'Frogs fell to the Eau Claire Express in the final game of a three game set on Saturday by a score of 7-1 at Joannes Stadium in Green Bay.
Green Bay scored first in the first inning. After back-to-back singles put Nick Stein at third and Clayton Eslick at first, the 'Frogs executed a perfect double steal for the ballgame's first run. Eslick stole second, and as soon as the throw left the hand of Alex Real behind the plate, Stein was on his way home, sliding in safely to make the score 1-0.
Eau Claire took a 2-1 lead in the second inning. Casey Gillaspie walked and Real doubled to put runners at second and third. Both runners then scored on two-out, two-run single by Tim Zier.
Eau Claire tacked on one more in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Gillaspie singled to begin the inning and later scored on a Ryan Wagner RBI single. This was just Wagner's fourth hit of the season.
The Express opened it up in the sixth inning. They scored three runs on three hits. Scheffert singled to begin the inning and then scored on a Gillaspie double. Gillaspie then advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch. Real walked and then came in to score on a Ryan Wagner groundout to make the score 6-1.
The Express added one in the seventh. With one out, Kyle Young singled and advanced to second on a Brian Celsi error. He then scored on a Gillaspie single to make the score 7-1, the eventual final.
The loss snapped a six game winning streak for the Bullfrogs. Nick Stein led the Bullfrogs offensively. He had two hits and scored the lone run of the game.
