Central Valley Coyotes News Release

For the second year the Af2 league office has assigned defensive line specialist Doug Langenfeld and offensive/defensive lineman Donyell Booker to the Central Valley Coyotes.

After anchoring a defense that won Reedley JC a California State Championship in 2002 these two JC All American defensive linemen went their separate ways, Langenfeld to the University of Auburn and Booker to Fresno State University. A year after their final college game the two would reunite back in the Central Valley to help the Coyotes to a 12-4 season and the franchises first playoff appearance.

Booker, 6'2 300, finished the 2006 season with 17 tackles, 8 tackles for losses and 5 sacks. While his experience has been on the defensive side of the ball, Booker found a way to excel with the ball in his hands. He returned an interception for a 30 yard touchdown, recovered one fumble and caught 8 passes for 43 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Langenfeld, 6'3 255, was part of an Auburn team that his senior year was undefeated at 13-0 and won the 2005 Sugar Bowl. In 2006 with the Coyotes Langenfeld recorded 28 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. He was recruited by several af2 teams when free agency hit November 1st, he was even recruited by a few af2 teams before the free agency date, but fortunately for the Coyotes he wanted to remain in Fresno.

"When you look at their statistics individually you don't see how valuable they were for us last year," said Coyote Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. "But, players like Doug and Donyell were responsible for the big defensive turn around that we had from 2005. It's great having them both back for 2007."

In 2006, the Coyotes defense ranked 8th in the league in points per game (46.8) and ranked 6th in the league in yards per game (249.8).
