Thunder Assigned First Players in Team History

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Thunder announced today the assignment of their first players by the arenafootball2 League Office. Among the first group of assigned players are three Youngstown State players and athletes from the area.

Local players include Wide Receiver/Linebacker Sam Crenshaw (6'3", 215, Penn State) from Youngstown (Rayen) , Defensive Specialist Maurice Taylor (5'11", 185, Northern Arizona) from Warren (Warren Harding), Offensive/Defensive Lineman Tim Frost (6'3", 280, Youngstown State) from Youngstown (Ursuline) and Fullback/Linebacker Mike Stanec (6'2", 250, Youngstown State) from Austintown (Austintown Fitch). Fullback/Linebacker Mike Andrews (6'1", 255, Youngstown State) is from Florida. These players will be on hand at the Thunder's field unveiling event on Tuesday, December 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Cortland Banks Field at the Chevrolet Centre in downtown Youngstown.

"We are thrilled to have some local guys coming to training camp in March; it's an opportunity for the Thunder to further strengthen our ties to the area and it gives fans some familiar faces to follow," said Head Coach Mike Hold.

The Mahoning Valley Thunder Arena Football Team's Inaugural Season kicks off Saturday, March 31, 2007 against the Fever from Tri-Cities, Washington.
