The Annual Jonathan Foundation Game Returns to Atrium Health Ballpark
March 24, 2022 - Carolina League (CarL)
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The life of Jonathan Thacker continues to shine bright over Cabarrus and Rowan County as the historic rivals of A.L. Brown and Concord come together at Atrium Health Ballpark on Thursday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. for the annual Jonathan Foundation game.
"For 10 years, A.L. Brown and Concord high school baseball teams have put aside their green and black/gold to put on special orange baseball jerseys to remember Jonathan Thacker. Jonathan loved baseball and had many friends at both schools. We are excited to continue the tradition this year," said Todd Thacker, the father of Jonathan. "More importantly, we will be reminded that friendship, giving your best, and playing by the rules will always be more important than what the score is at the end of the game. We hope you will come out and watch two rivals give their best and remember that being a friend to everyone is truly one of the greatest things we could ever do."
Jonathan was just 10 years old when he was tragically killed in a car accident in 2008. With his favorite color being orange, both teams sport orange hats and jerseys to help the Jonathan Foundation raise money to give hope to children in need. Jonathan grew up playing Dixie Youth baseball in Kannapolis and would have attended Concord High School.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (gates open at 5:30 p.m.), and tickets for the Jonathan Foundation game will be available to purchase at the F&M Bank Box Office or by calling the Cannon Ballers main line at 704-932-3267. Tickets will cost $7.
