
Thatcher Demko Signs Entry-Level Deal with Vancouver Canucks

Ralston, NE - Former Omaha Lancers goaltender Thatcher Demko has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks. Following the 2011-2012 season in Omaha, Demko spent three years at Boston College.
The 20-year-old completed his junior year with Boston College, helping the Eagles win Hockey East's regular season championship and advance all the way to the NCAA Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida. In 39 games this season at Boston College, the California native posted a 27-8-4 record, a .935 save percentage, and a 1.88 goals-against average. Demko also recorded 10 shutouts this year, setting a new Boston College school record.
With his efforts this past year, 6-foot-4, 195-pound goaltender received the 2016 Mike Richter Award as the most outstanding NCAA goaltender and was a finalist for the 2016 Hobey Baker Award.
Demko played 34 total USHL games with the Lancers and USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. In that span, he had a 24-6-0 record with a career 2.48 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. At the 2014 NHL Draft, Demko was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2nd round, 36th overall.
