Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers assigned forward Antti Tyrvainen (ter-VY-nen), defenseman Colten Teubert (too-bert) and goaltender Yann Danis (da-knee) to the Oklahoma City Barons, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.
Teubert, a 6-4, 205-pounder from White Rock, B.C. joined the Barons last season after the Oilers acquired him from the Los Angeles Kings at the trade deadline. The first-round draft choice of the Kings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft (13th overall) split time between Manchester and Oklahoma City last season. In 59 games between the two clubs, he recorded 17 points (4-13-17) and served 93 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, he played four-plus seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Regina Pats and represented Canada twice at the World Junior Championships.
Tyrvainen, a 5-10, 198-pounder from Seinajoki, Finland will be playing his first season of professional hockey in North America. He played the previous two seasons in the Finnish Elite League with the Pelicans. In two-plus seasons with the Pelicans, he recorded 34 points (22-12-34) and served 271 penalty minutes in 84 games. His best season was the 10-11 campaign where he recorded 22 points (14-8-22) and served a league-leading 186 penalty minutes.
Danis, a 6-0, 182-pounder from Lafontaine, PQ, is entering his 9th season in the professional ranks. A veteran of nearly 270 professional games, he has a record of 112-108-25, a 2.78 goals against average and .909 saves percentage and 12 shutouts. He has played 49 games in the NHL, most recently during the 2009-10 season with the New Jersey Devils. Prior to turning pro, Danis played at Brown University where he compiled a 2.20 and .930 saves percentage in 100 games.
These three are expected in Oklahoma City by Friday, but their status for the Barons preseason game against Houston has not been determined. Faceoff for the preseason game is 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. Tickets are $10 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets. Barons Season Seat Holders have a ticket for this preseason game included in their Season Ticket books.
The Barons home opener is just 16 days away. Oklahoma City opens the season October 15 at the Cox Convention Center against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. The Barons offer a range of ticketing options from full Season Seat packages, 21-game packages, 11-game and seven-game packs. All ticketing packages are available by calling 232-GOAL (4625) or by visiting the Barons website at okcbarons.com.
