Canadiens Assign Alex Henry to Bulldogs

MONTREAL (September 29, 2011) - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that defenceman Alex Henry has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Henry, 31, served as captain of the Bulldogs for the second straight season in 2010-2011 as he played in all 80 regular season games posting 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) and 96 penalty minutes, and all 20 post-season games accumulating three assists and 34 penalty minutes. The native of Elliot Lake, Ontario is the 'Dogs all-time leader in games played as he has competed in 412 regular season games with Hamilton in six overall seasons. Henry is a veteran of 177 regular season NHL games earning 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 269 penalty minutes and 559 regular season AHL games recording 79 points (15 goals, 64 assists) and 884 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound defender was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 3rd round, 67th overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by Montreal on July 30, 2010. Henry played in three 2011 pre-season games with the Canadiens.
The Bulldogs will open their 2011-2012 season at home on Saturday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum against the Rochester Americans.
