
Terrence Jones Named NBA G League Player of the Week

ERIE, PA - Erie BayHawks forward Terrence Jones has been named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Jan. 28 through Sunday, Feb. 3, it was announced today. The honor is the first for both Jones and the BayHawks this season.
Jones (6-9, 252), appeared in both of Erie's games this past week, leading the BayHawks to a 2-0 record. He finished the week averaging 24.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 1.0 steal in 32.3 minutes (.500 FG%, .429 3FG%). His 9.5 assists led all bench players for the week, while his 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds were good for third and fifth-best, respectively.
The University of Kentucky product notched his second career triple-double in a win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Wednesday, Jan. 30. He dished out a career-high 14 assists, to go along with 20 points, a team-high 11 rebounds and one steal in 34.2 minutes as a reserve.
Jones became the first bench player in the NBA G League this season to register a triple-double (Elias Sports). Additionally, he's only the second player in franchise history to tally a triple-double as a reserve, joining Ivan Johnson (34 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists on Mar. 18, 2011) (Elias Sports).
In a come-from-behind win over the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday, Feb. 2, Jones poured in a game-high 29 points on 10-19 (.526) shooting from the floor, including a 3-5 (.600) clip from three-point territory. In addition to his 29 points, he contributed eight rebounds, a team-high tying five assists, one steal and one block in 30.1 minutes.
Down by 17, 59-42, at halftime, Jones netted 24 of his 29 points in the second half, including 17 in the fourth quarter, securing the victory for the BayHawks.
In 18 games (11 starts) this season, the 6-9 forward is averaging 24.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 30.4 minutes of play. Jones is the only player in the NBA G League this season to be averaging at least 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
The BayHawks will finish their six-game homestand on Tuesday against the Greensboro Swarm. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m., as part of Erie's annual School Kids Jam contest. Tickets for Tuesday's tilt can be found online at eriebayhawks.com or at the Erie Insurance Arena box office.
