
Ten Homers Sail out During 12-10 Win

Stockton, CA. - Six homers propelled the Modesto Nuts to a 12-10 victory over the Stockton Ports on Monday night at Banner Island Ballpark.
The slugfest started early when Nick Zammarelli and Luis Liberato launched back-to-back home runs in the first inning to plate four runs, the first instance of back-to-back homers by the Nuts (23-28) this season.
In the second Zammarelli went deep again, this time with a two-run homer to collect five RBI against Ports' (30-21) starter Jake Bray (L, 1-3).
In the fourth, Kevin Santa smacked a solo home run and Kyle Lewis drilled a three-run homer to knock Bray out of the ballgame. The Ports starter worked 3 1/3 innings allowing ten runs on nine hits with five home runs allowed.
Lewis added a two-run homer in the sixth. He finished with five RBI and four hits.
Randy Bell started the game for Modesto and allowed seven runs on eight hits in four innings of work. Jeffeson Medina (W, 3-2) was the first arm out of the bullpen and he worked two innings allowing just one unearned run with five strikeouts.
On the other side, the Ports combined for four home runs. The ten combined home runs between the two teams was one shy of the league record.
Wyatt Mills (S, 5/7) worked a perfect ninth inning to give the Nuts the series-opening victory.
