Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

The Corpus Christi Rayz will conclude their 2005 Toys for Tots drive this Thursday night with a Teddy Bear Toss during their game against the Austin Ice Bats. Fans attending the 7:30 PM game at the American Bank Center are encouraged to show their holiday spirit by bringing toys and teddy bears to donate at the game. The Rayz, along with GMR Works, will be accepting all new, unwrapped toys brought to the arena throughout the evening. In addition, fans who bring a teddy bear to the game will be encouraged to participate in a "Teddy Bear Toss" following the Rayz first goal of the game.

After the Rayz score their first goal on Thursday night, fans in attendance will be asked to throw their teddy bears onto the ice. The Rayz will collect all of the teddy bears and donate them as part of a large gift donation to the Corpus Christi Toys for Tots Drive. Since November 20th the Rayz and Coastal Bend GM Goodwrench Dealers have been collecting toys at Rayz games and GM Goodwrench locations throughout South Texas. Fans can either bring their own teddy bears to the game, or purchase them at the arena for $3. All proceeds from the teddy bear sales will also go to Toys for Tots. The Corpus Christi Toys for Tots Drive donates toys to less fortunate children during the Holiday Season.

"At this time of year we should be thankful for our many blessings and considerate of those less fortunate. Toys for Tots is a wonderful cause and we're honored to be a part of this year's toy drive," Rayz General Manager, Larry Linde said.

In addition, any fan who donates a new, unwrapped toy or teddy bear on Thursday will receive a complimentary voucher good for one reserved seat for the Rayz home game against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday, December 23rd. Fans will receive this voucher as they enter the arena with their teddy bear or as they donate a toy.

"Our fans have always been extremely generous and I trust that will continue on Thursday night," Linde added. "The ticket voucher is our small way of saying thank you for brightening someone else's Christmas."

Thursday Night's game at the American Bank Center is the Rayz only home game this week. It's also College Night, presented by Z-95.5FM. All college students with a valid school ID will receive discounted tickets, starting at just $6. Tickets for the general public start at $10, and are available at all Ticketmaster locations and the American Bank Center Box Office. For more information, please call the Rayz at (361)814-PUCK.
