BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - Bloomington Extreme General Manager Beau Bradle announced Monday that Ted Schmitz will be the Head Coach of the Bloomington Extreme Indoor Football team for the remainder of the 2010 season.
This move relieves Kenton Carr of his duties as Head Coach of the Bloomington Extreme. Kenton Carr compiled a record of 20-18 in his two and a half seasons with the Extreme after being named Head Coach on December 6, 2007.
"Ted is very knowledgeable of the players on our roster and we feel he gives the Extreme the best opportunity to succeed this season," said Bradle. "He has been an integral part of the Extreme organization since our inception, helping to put the Extreme in a position to win each season through his recruiting and overseeing of the defense."
"Ed Brady (Extreme's Managing Partner) is committed to providing the fans in our community with high quality football and an entertaining experience and will continue to make every effort to do so this year and for many years moving forward." Bradle commented.
"After careful deliberation over the past couple of weeks, it was decided that it was in the best interests of the Extreme to move forward in a different direction. On behalf of myself and the Extreme's ownership group, I would like to thank Kenton Carr for the job he has done here the past two and a half seasons," continued Bradle. "He was an integral part in the success the Extreme has experienced. He is a good man and I wish him the best of luck in the future."
Ted Schmitz was the Bloomington Extreme's Head Coach during their inaugural seasons in 2006 and 2007. Schmitz has served as the Extreme's Assistant General Manager/Director of Player Personal since leaving the field to move into the front office. Schmitz has over 40 years of coaching experience which includes 10 years as a Defensive Coordinator and Head Coach in the Canadian Football League. Schmitz guided the Extreme to the 2007 Eastern Conference Championship game and stepped in as the Defensive Coordinator during the Extreme's 2008 run to the United Bowl.
