Richmond, VA: Historic wins, intra-division showdowns, and dominating performances marked Week Ten of the Indoor Football League season. Eleven electrifying games were featured on the IFL schedule over the weekend including the IFL Game of the Week which highlighted a Central West Division showdown between the Wichita Wild and the Sioux City Bandits.

Week Ten of the season kicked off on Friday evening when the Chicago Slaughter (3-4) traveled to take on Central North Division opponent the La Crosse Spartans (1-7). The game marked a momentous night in the brief history of the Spartan's franchise as the team was able to pull off the upset and in the process, win its first ever game, 35-29. In a back and forth game, both defenses came to play as the teams combined for only 277 yards of offense. The loss brings the Slaughter's three game winning streak to an abrupt end and places them in a tie for 8th place, the final playoff spot, in the United Conference with the Omaha Beef. The Slaughter will look to pull back to .500 on the season when they travel to Green Bay to take on the Central North Division leading Blizzard. The Spartans will look to build momentum off of this win when they visit the Bloomington Extreme.

Also on Friday night, the Billings Outlaws (7-1) continued their tear through the Pacific North Division with a 54-30 victory over the Kent Predators (3-5). Outlaw's QB Chris Dixon put on a show as he completed 16 of 23 passes for 160 yards and 4 TD's while also rushing 7 times for 47 yards and 2 TD's. He connected with WR James Walton on 3 TD tosses which brings Walton's league leading TD reception total to 18. DL Michael Bazemore tallied 1.5 sacks which brings his league leading total to 8, as he and the rest of the Outlaw's defense harassed Kent QB Charles McCullum all game long. For the second week in a row McCullum struggled to find any rhythm as he completed just 54% of his passes and rushed for just 9 yards. The Predators face a must-win in Week Eleven if they hope to keep their playoff hopes alive when they travel to play the Tri-Cities Fever. The Outlaws will look to tighten their stranglehold on the Pacific North Division lead when they host the Fairbanks Grizzlies.

Play resumed on Saturday when the San Angelo Stampede Express (6-2) traveled to face the Austin Turfcats (2-5). The Stampede Express proved to be too powerful as they muscled their way to a 52-27 victory. RB Derrick Ross continued his impressive 2010 season as accounted for 4 TD's, accomplishing the rare feat of rushing, passing, and receiving a TD. He carried the ball 12 times for 52 yards and 2 TD's, caught 3 passes for 15 yards and a TD, and also connected with WR Mike Malone on his lone pass attempt for a 6 yard TD. Ross now sits atop the league in both rushing yards (462) and rushing TD's (14). The Turfcats have now dropped 3 straight and sit in last place in the Lonestar East Division. They will look to get back in the win column at home against the West Texas Roughnecks in Week Eleven while the Stampede Express hosts the Abilene Ruff Riders.

The Richmond Revolution (7-1) extended their lead in the Atlantic East Division to 2 games with a 46-44 victory over the West Michigan ThunderHawks (4-3). In game that saw the lead change hands 10 times, the Revolution were able to outlast the ThunderHawks for the second time in 2010. A revamped Revolution rushing attack was on full display as college teammates Rodney Lander and Eugene Holloman (James Madison University) combined for 17 rushes which covered 96 yards and a TD. ThunderHawk's QB Brad Iciek had another solid outing completing 25-34 for 240 yards and 4 TD's, but he was only able to put 7 points on the board for the T'Hawks in the all important final quarter. The ThunderHawks will have their hands full again in Week Eleven when they travel to play the Rochester Raiders. The Revolution will also be on the road as they play the Maryland Maniacs.

In the IFL Game of the Week, the Sioux City Bandits (4-3) edged the rival Wichita Wild (5-3) in an old fashion Central West Division showdown, 48-47. A solid defensive effort and inspired play from new starting QB Scott Jensen (119 yards, 3TD's) were key factors in the Bandits upset. Defensive linemen Sean Kelly and David Harley wrecked havoc in the Wild backfield combining for 5 QB sacks. Despite another monster game from WR Clinton Solomon (94 yards, 3 TD's) the Wild were constantly playing catch-up as the Bandits never trailed in the game. The win pulls the Bandits to within 1/2 a game off the Wild for second place in the Central West Division. They will have another tough game on their hands in Week Eleven when they host the Sioux Falls Storm. The Wild will look to rebound when they travel to play the Colorado Ice.

The Amarillo Venom (7-0) continued on their winning ways with a 58-50 victory over the Abilene Ruff Riders (1-7) in Week Ten. The Ruff Riders did a nice job containing Venom QB Julian Reese in the passing game but, when faced with adversity, Reese found another way to put points on the board. Hit little coming through the air, Reese turned to his legs and reached the end zone 4 times on the ground. The Ruff Riders had plenty of opportunities to play the role of spoiler but 5 turnovers proved to be too much to overcome. Both teams will be on the road in Week Eleven as the Ruff Riders travel to play the San Angelo Stampede Express and the Venom travel to take on the Corpus Christi Hammerheads.

The Rochester Raider improved to 5-3 on the season with a 46-39 victory over the Maryland Maniacs (0-7). Since a 1-2 start to the season, the Raiders have won 4 of 5 and sit in great position to make a run for a playoff spot. QB Perry Patterson turned in his best performance of the season completing 17 of 30 passes for 238 yards and 5 TD's. Four of his five TD's went to WR Kevin Concepcion who had a monster game hauling in 9 passes for 200 yards. Fireworks happened early and often in the first half of play as the halftime score was 39-31 in favor of the Raiders. Both defenses stepped their game up in the second half as the offenses could only muster 15 points on the board. The Raiders will be in search of some revenge in Week Eleven when they host the West Michigan ThunderHawks who are up 2-0 on the season series between the teams. The Maniacs, one of two remaining winless teams, will look to play the role of spoiler at home against the division leading Richmond Revolution.

There is good defense and then there is great defense. There is great defense and then there is the Arkansas Diamonds. The Diamonds' defensive unit continually one ups itself with each passing week of play and Week Ten was no exception. The defense teamed up with the special teams unit to scored 5 TD's on the way to a 71-28 drumming of the West Texas Roughnecks (2-6). Return specialist Coco Blalock returned two field goal attempts for scores, DB Brent Hafford returned an interception for a TD, while DL Luis Vasquez and LB Blair Phillips each returned a fumble for a TD. The Diamonds continue to roll through Lonestar Division foes but will face their toughest opponent to date when they host the Omaha Beef in Week Eleven. The Roughnecks will look to rebound when they travel to take on the Austin Turfcats.

The Omaha Beef (3-4) trampled the visiting Bloomington Extreme (3-5) 66-25 in a game which could decide who is in and who is watching at home come playoff time. The Beef were sparked by the electrifying play of KR Cortney Grixby who covered 146 yards on 4 returns including 2 returns for TD's, 54 and 56 yards respectively. The team also got a boost from RB R.J. Rollins who carried the ball 14 times for 67 yards and 4 TD's. The puts the Extreme two games below .500 and as a result the team has cut ties with Head Coach Kenton Carr. Ted Schmitz has been named Carr's replacement for the remainder of the 2010 season. The Extreme will look to regain its early season form when they host the La Crosse Spartans in Week Eleven while the Beef will travel to face the physically imposing Arkansas Diamonds.

In a battle between Pacific North foes the Tri-Cities Fever (2-5) earned a hard fought 56-48 victory over the visiting Alaska Wild (2-7) on Saturday evening. QB Houston Lillard filled in admirably for the injured Andy Collins, completing 21 of 28 passes for 214 yards and 6 TD's. WR Brandon Copeland was on the receiving end of 9 of those passes for 116 yards and 4 TD's. This game was highly completive throughout and was not decided until there was one minute remaining in the fourth quarter. With the Fever leading 56-48, the Wild drove the ball down to the 5 yard line for the potentially game tying score. DB Lionel Singleton forced a Wild fumble which was recovered by LB Derek Nicholson, his second on the night, and sealed the second win on the season for the Fever. The Fever will look to carry them momentum from this victory into next week when they host the Kent Predators while the Wild will have a bye in Week Eleven to regroup.

In the final game on the Week Eleven schedule, the Sioux Falls Storm improved to 7-1 with a 41-28 victory over the Colorado Ice (0-8). The Storm jumped out to a 16-0 lead and never looked back. Sioux Falls relied heavily on a ground game that produced 184 yards and 3 TD's. Three players broke the 50 yard mark including Sean Treasure (63 yards, TD), James Jones (58 yards, TD), and James Terry (52 yards, TD). The Ice kept the game close, pulling to within 6 points late in the 2nd quarter, but could never mount a challenge for the lead in the second half. The Ice will continue to search for their first win of the season when they host the Wichita Wild while the Storm will travel to face off against bitter rivals the Sioux City Bandits.

Week Ten Vidswap.com IFL Players of the Week will be announced on Wednesday. The IFL season will continue with Week Eleven on Saturday May 8th with twelve league games featured on the schedule.
