
Team White Wins 4-3 in Blue-White Game

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires again hosted their annual Blue-White Game and Team White defeated Team Blue in a close 4-3 affair in front of 610 fans at Tecumseh Arena tonight. Team Blue opened the scoring at the 7:49 mark as Nick MacEachern converted a feed from Jeff Stanton. Team White then tied the game at the 16:20 mark on a Ben Dubois tally with assists from Justin Buzzeo and Derek Van Ness. Team White then took a 2-1 lead roughly one minute later at 17:21 on a goal from Jesse Blacker. Ian Farigrieve and Burke D'Souza recorded assists on Team White's goal as entered the half with the lead. Team White's Stephen Gleeson made 22 saves on 23 shots while Team Blue's Ryan Carlisle kicked out 18 of 20 shots.
In the second period, Team Blue tied the game as Andrew Yogan scored at the 6:53 mark. Mike MacIntyre and Jeff Stanton recorded assists on the goal. Team White then regained the lead at 12:55 of the second on a Justin Shugg goal from Justin Buzzeo and Ron Soucie. The game continued to go back and forth before Michael Sisk of Team Blue tied the game at three at 20:01 of the second frame on assists from Andrew Yogan and Noah Nelson. Team White came back to take a 4-3 lead almost two minutes later as Eric Wellwood scored unassisted. Efforts from Team Blue to tie the game were thwarted by solid play from Team White goalie Lane Floro and White emerged victorious. Floro made 23 saves on 25 shots while Ryan Carlisle of Team Blue turned away 13 of 15 shots.
The Windsor Spitfires will now open their pre-season schedule on the road against the Plymouth Whalers in Plymouth at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th before returning to Windsor Arena to face the Whalers on Monday, September 1st at 2 p.m.
