Montreal, May 4, 2015 - Team Bruno Heppell edged Team André Bolduc by a score of 37-21 in what was an incredible third edition of the Tim Hortons All-Star Game hosted by the Montreal Alouettes in collaboration with Football Québec at McGill's Stadium in downtown Montreal on Sunday afternoon. Perfect conditions helped make this initiative a resounding success that will remain etched in these young athletes' memories for a long time.
Throughout the weekend, the province's top Secondary III and IV players received instruction from CEGEP coaches before getting the chance to impress recruiters during Sunday's All-Star Game. This annual event provides young football players with an opportunity to showcase their skills and know-how in front of a number of CEGEP coaches from across the province as they prepare for their year of eligibility playing high school football.
In partnership with Football Quebec's Program of Excellence, more than 100 players who were selected by a panel consisting of many CEGEP coaches from across Québec and divided into the two teams.
Family and friends on-site were also big winners during this annual classic, as they were able to live the complete Alouettes' experience, all while getting a peak at tomorrow's football stars. They got to see Kevin Mital played an outstanding game, as the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Dynamiques' young receiver hauled-in three touchdown passes en route to being named Team Heppell's most valuable player. Team Bolduc's quarterback Ezechiel Tieide from Dalbé-Viau Aigles was voted his team's MVP after throwing a touchdown pass and adding two rushing majors.
In collaboration with Tim Hortons, four Atom-level football games also took place on Sunday, including one at half-time of the Tim Hortons All-Star Game. Young players on-hand had a chance to live the Alouettes game day experience thanks to the presence of former players, new crowd animator Alexandre Pelletier, cheerleaders and team mascot Touché!.
It has always been important for the Montreal Alouettes to be involved with minor football and to share their knowledge with tomorrow's stars.
