
Taticek's streak not enough for Rampage

Four different Rampage players recorded multiple-point nights while Grand Rapids' Kip Miller tallied five points, including a hat trick. Rampage center Petr Taticek scored a pair of goals including the game's first goal just two minutes into the opening period. Playing in his first game since suffering a concussion, Joe Cullen assisted on the play for his first point of the night. Rob Globke gave the Rampage a 2-1 lead 1:34 in the second period, before Grand Rapids scored a pair of goals to retake the lead 3-2. The third period produced a total of six goals. Taticek brought the Rampage within one, scoring 6:01 into the final frame. Filip Novak and Anthony Stewart each recorded their first assists on the night on Taticek's second goal. The two would later help Cullen collect his second point, and sixth goal of the season, of the game to bring the Rampage back within one, 5-4, once again with 5:42 remaining in the period.
SAT. Apr. 9 vs. L, 2-1
Kamil Kreps closed the gap with a late third-period goal, but San Antonio was unable to climb back from a 2-0 deficit and fell to the Houston Aeros 2-1 on Saturday night at the SBC Center. The Rampage's Travis Scott turned away 29 of 31 shots on the night as San Antonio began their last home-and-home with Houston this season. Kreps' power-play goal, his fifth in his rookie season, was assisted by Petr Taticek and Ryan Jardine with 1:56 left to play in the game. Jardine extended his scoring streak to three games with the assist. San Antonio kept pressure on Houston's goaltender, Josh Harding, for the rest of regulation with a 10-7 advantage in shots in the final frame. Although the Rampage out-shot Houston in the second period 13-9, Dan Cavanaugh gave the Aeros a 2-0 lead with a shorthanded goal at the 9:03 mark.
SUN. Apr. 10 a t L, 2-1
Petr Taticek extended his scoring streak to three games with a goal at 14:17 in the second period that brought the Rampage within a goal of the Aeros Sunday night in Houston. Rampage goaltender Travis Scott turned in another outstanding performance, turning aside 32 of 34 shots, only to fall 2-1 to the Aeros for the second time in as many nights.
Taticek's seventh goal of the season was helped by Jeremy Swanson and Greg Jacina.
Houston got out to a 2-0 lead in the first with goals by Rickard Wallin and Mikko Koivu. Josh Harding stopped 27 of 28 shots for the Aeros. Ryan Jardine had a three-game scoring streak snapped that dated back to April 3rd.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Petr Taticek
Petr Taticek scored four points in three games last week. Taticek, who netted two goals against Grand Rapids and added an assist in the first game against Houston, stretched his current scoring streak to three-games when he scored his seventh goal of the season Sunday night in Houston.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT
The Rampage are 18-12-3-5 in one-goal games this season after dropping two one-goal games to Houston this week. Both games ended 2-1.
Petr Taticek currently has a three-game scoring streak and has contributed a point in four of the last five Rampage games. In that span he has three goals and two assists for five points.
Former first-round pick, Anthony Stewart, scored his first AHL/Professional point on Thursday, April 7, when he helped Petr Taticek's third period goal. Later in that period he added another assist on Joe Cullen's goal for his first multi-point game of the year.
The Rampage will conclude the 2004-05 season at home on April 17 when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 4:30 p.m. The first 1,500 fans at the SBC Center will receive a special Rampage team photo.
