Johansson Reassigned to South Carolina

PORTLAND, ME- Portland Pirates Head Coach Tim Army announced today that Jonas Johansson has been reassigned to South Carolina (ECHL). Johansson registered nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 50 games this season with the Pirates.

This marks Johansson's third trip to South Carolina to play with the Stingrays. In his two previous stints with the team, the rookie scored four goals and notched two assists in his five games down south. Johansson will join the Stingrays tomorrow night in time for their playoff series against the Florida Everblades in the American Conference Quarterfinals.

A native of Sweden, Johansson was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2002 (28th overall). Last season, Johansson appeared in all 72 games for Kamloops of the WHL, tallying 18 goals and 19 assists. He also tied for third on the team in goals and ranked fourth in points (37). Johansson ended up tied for the team leads in game-winning goals (5). The right winger, appeared in all five playoff games for Kamloops, scoring two goals, including one shorthanded, and two assists those combined put him tied for the team lead in playoff points with four.
