San Antonio Talons News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (July 1, 2012) - The San Antonio Talons (12-3) successfully secured their position in the Arena Football League playoffs with 58-48 victory against the Kansas City Command on Saturday, June 30.

The Talons started their momentum early in the game when Jomo Wilson returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Wilson, the National Guard MVP of the Game, ended the game with two touchdown receptions for 75 yards.

Aaron Garcia, Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game, showcased his versatile receiving selection by spreading touchdowns around throughout the night. In addition to Wilson's two, Jason Willis had one touchdown for 74 yards, Burl Toler III had two touchdowns for 75 yards, and Derek Lee had two touchdowns for 28 yards. Lee's touchdown catch over the wall late in the second quarter earned the Cutters Catch of the Game and increased the Talons' lead 27-13.

Garcia threw for seven touchdowns, 253 yards and no interceptions. Kansas City's quarterback, Zach Eskridge threw for three touchdowns, 261 yards and no interceptions.

The Commands' efforts weren't enough to beat the Talons hungry defense; San Antonio's defense impressed with notable tackles by Jamar Ransom and Victor DeGrate, who earned the title Riddell Defensive Player of the Game.

The Talons' victory secures a playoff berth on either Friday, July 27 or Saturday, July 28. If the Talons continue to advance their now nine-game winning streak, they will potentially host the first round playoff game in San Antonio at the Alamodome.

The Talons' next game is away, as they take on the Chicago Rush in on Sunday, July 8. The Talons' final regular season, home game is Friday, July 13 in the Alamodome against the Arizona Rattlers. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
