Durham Bulls News Release
Durham, NC - Bulls pitcher Mitch Talbot pitched eight shutout innings as the Bulls recorded their second shutout in less than 24 hours with a 2-0 win over the Richmond Braves on Wednesday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The early start of 11:05 AM didn't seem to bother Talbot (2-3), who allowed only five hits and a walk over eight innings of work while striking out six. Dale Thayer picked up his fifth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
The Bulls got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning on Reid Brignac's sacrifice fly scoring Dan Johnson. They tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on Joel Guzman's RBI-single plating Justin Ruggiano.
Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Hampton (0-1), here on a rehabilitation assignment, took the loss pitching three and one-third innings allowing a run on three hits and two walks while striking out four. He left after 71 pitches due to tightness in his armpit.
The Bulls go to Scranton Wilkes-Barre to take on the Yankees on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. Catch all the action on 1410-AM WRJD or online at www.durhambulls.com.
