Long Island Ducks News Release

(Lake Grove, N.Y., January 28, 2010) - On Thursday, the Long Island Ducks spent the afternoon with Stephen Florio and all of his fourth grade classmates at Cayuga Elementary in Lake Grove. Stephen was the fourth and final winner in the TD Bank Take a Duck to Class Essay Contest. As part of his prize Stephen received an assembly for the entire fourth grade with QuackerJack and Atlantic League MVP Ray Navarrete. Stephen was very excited about winning the contest and when asked if he would like to read his essay aloud he responded "I would be honored".

Kerry Baardson, Branch Manager of the local TD Bank in Lake Grove, presented Stephen with a fifty dollar Visa gift card and the crowd cheered. When Ms. Baardson was done congratulating Stephen, QuackerJack jumped out from behind the stage curtain to surprise all of the students.

"Today was a special day," says Baardson. "It's a great feeling to see the faces of these kids light up as the Ducks and TD Bank help spread the word on community awareness."

After the cheers died down it was time for MVP Ray Navarrete to talk to the children about the importance of community and education in his life and career. When the questions were over Ray and QuackerJack followed Principal Wells back up to Stephen's classroom to sign autographs and take pictures. As an added surprise Ms. Baardson brought gift bags for each of the students in Stephen's class courtesy of TD Bank.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park in Central Islip, NY and are entering their 11th season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Through 10 seasons, the team has averaged 6,077 fans per game in their 6,002-seat park. For further information, visit www.liducks.com or call 631-940-DUCK.
