(Joliet, IL) - The first place Joliet Slammers are starting the new month off in style with big food discounts for the 12:05 p.m. game on Monday, August 1 against the Traverse City Beach Bums.

This "Business Person's Special" invites fans to take some time off work and come enjoy a Slammers game at beautiful Silver Cross Field.

"There's no better way to enjoy a long lunch than with the Slammers," President Bill Waliewski said. "Of course, this deal is not just for business people, it's also great for moms or dads at home taking care of the kids who want a few hours of fun at the ballpark. These food discounts combined with all the other events at the yard on Monday make the Business Person's Special one of our best deals yet."

On Monday fans can get two hot dogs, chips, and a soft drink for a total of five dollars. For the fan who wants a more nutritious lunch, the team is also offering a chicken sandwich, chips, and a soft drink for only seven dollars.

Monday is also "Mascot Monday" as the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks' mascot Tommy Hawk will be on hand to entertain fans. The game is the Slammers' "Tribute to John Hughes" so get ready for lots of famous movie clips between innings featuring "The Brat Pack." As usual, kids will get to run the bases after the game and on Monday players will be waiting to sign autographs, so bring a ball!

Don't forget about the rest of the upcoming home games as the Slammers return to town this Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m., the first 500 fans receive a Slammers beach towel, and there will be fireworks after the game. Sunday is the team's Salute to BBQ and the first 500 fans get a Slammers apron. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m.
