T-Yanks Rally Late in 4-1 Comeback over Hammerheads

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (24-21) scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth, rallying back to take a 4-1 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads (21-25) on Wednesday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

An RBI single by Dante Bichette Jr. tied the game before Matt Snyder put the T-Yanks in front with a three-run blast into the Walgreens Deck in right field. It was Snyder's first home run of the season.

Jupiter scored in the first, taking an early lead. Blake Barber singled and Terrance Dayleg reached on an error at third base by Dante Bichette Jr. Matt Juengel followed with an RBI bloop single to center field.

LHP Miguel Sulbaran pitched his best start yet for Tampa. The southpaw allowed one unearned run on five hits and a walk, striking out five in seven strong frames.

Cito Culver led off the eighth with a single to center. A sacrifice bunt by Jose Toussen advanced the tying run to second. During an at-bat by Greg Bird, Culver stole third on the throw back to the pitcher. Bird worked a walk, placing runners on the corners for Bichette. A clutch single to right-center tied the game at 1-1 and knocked reliever Blake Logan (0-1) out of the game.

RHP Colby Suggs entered for Jupiter and Snyder sent the first pitch to right field for the go-ahead homer.

Yankees' reliever James Pazos earned his third save of the season after the southpaw pitched a scoreless ninth.

RHP Nick Rumbelow (3-0) threw a 1-2-3 eighth and got the win for Tampa.

RHP Austin Brice threw five and two third innings for Jupiter, scattering two hits and a walk. Brice tied a season-high with nine strikeouts in the no-decision.

Bichette reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Snyder went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI.

The series continues on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. LHP Conner Kendrick will take the hill for the Yankees and RHP Trevor Williams counters for the Hammerheads.
