Kent, WA, October 1, 2008 - The Seattle Thunderbirds are pleased to announce a special pre-game ceremony involving legendary Seattle Totem Guyle Fielder before the team's first home game at KeyArena on Saturday, October 4, against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05 p.m.
Fielder was recently inducted into the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame. In the pre-game ceremony he will be presented with his Hall of Fame plaque by Clay Huntington, the Executive Director of the Washington State Hall of Fame. Fielder will be presented with a special gift from a special member of the Thunderbirds organization. He will also drop the ceremonial first puck for the team's last home opener at Seattle Center. Fielder played with the Totems at the Seattle Coliseum, the precursor to the KeyArena.
"This is an exciting night for us," said T-Birds Vice President Colin Campbell. "We are so pleased to be able to bring back a man who is such an iconic figure in Seattle hockey history. Guyle was a great player who we look forward to honoring at our last home opener at the Seattle Center." There will also be an autograph session in the first intermission of the T-Birds game. Fans can get autographs and have their picture taken with Fielder during the first intermission. The autograph session will take place on the KeyArena concourse. The book "Seattle Hockey History" by Jeff Obermeyer has a chapter on Fielder and will be available for purchase at the T-Birds souvenir stands if fans would like to have it autographed.
Fielder played professional hockey for 21 years in the Western Hockey League with 15 of those years being spent with the Seattle Bombers (1953-54), Seattle Americans (1955-57) and Seattle Totems (1957-69).

Fielder became the first pro player anywhere to accumulate 100 points in a season, totaling 122 for the Americans during the 1956-57 season. He was the first professional hockey player to score 2,000 points and finished his career with 2,037 total points.
