
T-Birds Hold Successful Tryout in New Orleans

Rio Rancho, NM - The NBA Development League New Mexico Thunderbirds, with the assistance of their NBA affiliate, the New Orleans Hornets, held its first open tryout of the season on Saturday afternoon in New Orleans. The tryout took place at the Hornets' practice facility, the Alario Center. Thunderbirds first year head coach Darvin Ham conducted the tryout and put the players through a number of drills and games for evaluation purposes. Several of the top Hornets personnel, including head coach, Monty Williams and General Manager Dell Demps attended to assist coach Ham and observe tryouts.
Forty-seven players participated in the open tryout, which lasted approximately five hours. "We were very pleased with the wonderful turnout at tryouts in New Orleans," head coach Darvin Ham said. "It produced a few high quality prospects that we look forward to seeing in training camp in November."
The Thunderbirds will be hosting one final open tryout for the season at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho on October 23 and 24, 2010. For more information about the tryout, visit www.nmtbirds.com or call 265-3865.
