Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

KENT, Wash. - Arjun Bawa's two goals and Kaleb Hartmann's four-point night led a balanced attack, and the Seattle Thunderbirds skated past the Wenatchee Wild, 7-3, Tuesday at the accesso ShoWare Center. The T-Birds are back in action this Friday with their final home game before the Christmas break. They host the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05 p.m.

"Just nice seeing some good hockey," said head coach Matt O'Dette. "I thought our first was good. Our third was really good. Parts of the second weren't great but there were really nice snapshots of our formula in place in this game and the way we can play when everyone buys in. It can be really effective."

Seattle (11-17-2-1) grabbed a quick two goal lead with first period goals from Antonio Martorana and Bawa. Wenatchee kept it close with a goal late in the opening period, The T-Birds would answer early in the second with a power play goal from Braeden Cootes.

The teams would trade goals later in the middle period with Simon Lovsin scoring the T-Birds fourth goal, which turned out to be the game winner. Wenatchee once again responded with a goal in the final two minutes to make it 4-3 Seattle heading into the second intermission.

The Thunderbirds would pull away with three third period goals. Bawa's second of the night pushed the lead back to two at 5-3. "Great performance from our line tonight," said Bawa, who now has goals in back-to-back games. "I think me, Parmar and Gerry (Colton Gerrior) are clicking and it's obviously paying off."

The T-Birds would tack on two more as Hartmann rifled in his second of the season and Radim Mrtka blasted in his second as well. Seven different T-Birds registered multiple point games as they improved their home record to 8-5-1-1.

"We had some greasy ones, and some point shots that went in," remarked O'Dette of the team's offensive outburst. "Scoring in different ways. That's what you need to do."

T-BIRDS EXTRAS

Owen Boucher has decided to step away from hockey for health reasons. The 20-year-old defenseman left a game recently with an upper body injury. He ends his WHL career having played 201 games, the final 75 with the T-Birds. In 16 games this season for Seattle he had four points (1g, 4a).

The T-Birds played the game without goaltender Scott Ratzlaff and defenseman Sawyer Mynio. Both are away at Team Canada's selection camp ahead of the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The Thunderbirds final game before a two-week holiday break is this Saturday when they travel down to Portland to face the Winterhawks.

Seattle's first game out of the break is December 27th when they host the Everett Silvertips at Climate Pledge Arena in the fourth annual Battle of the Sound. Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com.
